Great food and pleasant service, fair price, the atmosphere is reminiscent of old Goa. Shame some idiot was having a conference call on speaker in the middle of the restaurant 😞
I had wanted to visit for some time, as had heard good things. My wife had cruely gone with friends several times before we got a chance to visit together. We popped in without a reservation on a Saturday night and thankfully could be accomodated. The staff were friendly helpful and attentive. We were advised that as the food was cooked to order it may take a while. The food came out quicker than expected and we were not disappointed. Delicious Indian flavours, seemed far more authentic than other Indian Restaurant I have visited.
No better place to eat in Weymouth if you are looking for south Indian restaurant
Best dosa I’ve had outside India. The service was lovely and the whole party lovely their meals!
Worst experience disgusting ,went for lunch around 10.30am a guy on the reception was polite n told me to have a seat n he went n informed the staff the about my presence I was seated for 15mins like a fool n nobody turned up to take the order so unfortunately I have to leave ,worst experience that's the respect the staff have for their customers..disgusting..
The old reviews of tatty environment are now history, all refurbished, but the food remains brilliant, attentive service too, what more to ask for? Don’t expect your standard Indian menu, dishes are from Kerala, and great at that.
Absolutely fantastic food, seriously good an served with a smile where nothing is too much trouble. Will always return to The White Pepper!
The food they served is very fresh and tasty. Ambiance is okay & a nice pleasant place to sit and enjoy the food. The only disappointment thing is the staff i don’t know whether the person who served me is manager or waitresses he was rude to us. We ordered the food and after 10 min we asked like “how long it’s gonna take”, he replied “we don’t have chocolate to serve immediately, you have to wait till it’s get ready” which is not acceptable totally the way he respond to the. Serving freshly made food is a good thing but you need to give polite and proper explanation y it’s take long to serve. Except that guy(The one who was with glasses took my order) everything is fine.
I have been to White Pepper several times and wanted to leave a review about their food and service this time. For Malayalis missing their traditional food in the UK, White Pepper is a great option. The food is delicious, especially the date pickle and salad they serve as starters. My favorite dish is the porotta and beef masala, but I also thoroughly enjoyed their fish fry during my last visit. If you are in Weymouth, I encourage you to try White Pepper for a taste of Kerala cuisine.
As one customer previously wrote ‘ do not judge a book by its cover !’ We had been recommended The White Pepper by a local who told us to ignore the decor & concentrate on the knowledge & passion of the owners & staff to enjoy the food , which was in his opinion very good .Please remember this is not a curry house ! This is Keralan ! The people from the south delicately balance their ingredients , their unique use of spices are gently layered throughout the dishes & their sauces on this particular evening were like velvet . Enough ….. the staff here are lovely & even somewhat shy but engage them in conversation & you will notice how keen they are to please . My taste buds were extremely satisfied that evening & if I’m ever down in Weymouth again this is the place I’m heading to .Best wishes to you all & I hope you go from strength to strength
Waited two and a quarter hours for the main course, and when it finally arrived, it was stone cold. We had to send it back. The waiter assured us they would make a fresh one, but the plate was returned 5 minutes later, and hot I assume they reheated it. Other than our group and a table of 2 adults and 2 toddlers, there was no one else there, so I can't understand the dreadful wait. The portions were miniscal, and I left hungry, having spent £45. Its not wheelchair friendly. Dining room was cold.
Hey? So I’m a bit of a food person and the way that you get treated very often can make the food taste better (If you know what I mean) 😖😖😖This restaurant????No.Terrible. Terrible. TERRIBLE!So at first I liked the whole “frontRoom house look” It usually means homemade cooking!!!!NO.I made a special trip down from WalesAnd my best friends who live here wanted to take me somewhere different…and new. Oh dear. 😖😖😖It all started out great…I asked the waiters name… He was lovely ( only good thing about this place) Anish. We waited over an hour for the main dishes. Now, there’s not a lot of menu choice (be warned) not a bad thing as such …. however, the three of us asked questions about the dishes, two of ours came with a “sauce”? Now, I’m Welsh and I love my curry, CURRY??? There wasn’t any on two dishes??? Meat. No sauce. I ordered a spicy dish, £18! Just the dish, no sauce. DRY!!!!!!So my friend asked for extra sauce and said it was dry. They brought coconut sauce. So I added some although my dish was tomato based and I’m not a fan of mild coconut tastes. Just to get some juice on the dish ! The rice side dish was a packet of boiled microwave rice and u could see the veg in the dish was that cubed, bagged veg that comes frozen… no oils or spices? £6 !!!! No fresh veg??? Horrible. Then my friends asked where the “noodles” were? They brought them after the meal… dry and u could lift them with ur fingers!? !!!!!! and I gotta be honest I’ve had juicier Supernoodles! You have to see the photos to believe it? £4 for dry super noodles??? Now I left 3/4 of my dinner my other friends ate theirs and also complained but I had explained the food was awful… the waiter has arguing with me demanding that I just didn’t like it ?!!?? I left most of it and he was obnoxious and wouldn’t listen to our comments…. Refusing to hear why I had left most of my food. This wasn’t Anish.I never got the name of the guy who took over our order. He wasn’t nice. So we sat with the dishes there for 20 mins. My friends both like a quiet life and they did complain, bit ate the food but I hadn’t eaten most of mine so I didn’t wanna pay?The waiter demanded wePay and said he would takethe white dry Supernoodles off the bill as they came AFTER a the meal ( I’m sorry Supernoodles) you are better than this?!)I believe legally if you haven’t eaten the food in a restaurant, even if it’s unpalatable, you should’nt pay for it. I never ate most of it didn’t enjoy it. I did love the taste that was there….but there was no sauce on the plate like it said on the menu?My 2 friends paid the whole bill as the waiter was beginning to make them feel humiliated and embarrassed. They shouldn’t have to do that for me but I didn’t want the night to be even more ruined for them.
