The Jailhouse Diner is a new American style diner situated at the Grove on Portland overlooking Weymouth Bay and the Jurassic Coastline towards Purbeck.
The Diner opened to the public in June 2023 offering a range of hot and cold meals.

What a gem of a place on Portland. Well worth a visit. Friendly staff, great food and heck of a location
Was a little confused on where to park at first, but eventually found a space on the road along the hill.The decor inside is excellent, the service was outstanding, and the food was simple but otherwise really very good!Highly recommend! And well done to the staff working there.
About 25 of us visited on a motorcycle ride out, when we arrived we had a 10% discount on our food and drinks as we were a large group, although there were lots of us the food and drinks came out promptly and was well organised, the food was really good, the staff were friendly and accommodating.Can't recommend the Jailhouse Dinner at grove road Portland highly enough.We sat outside and inside, the atmosphere was great, and the view over the coast was fantastic 😍Thank you Jailhouse Diner 👍👍👍🏍️🏍️🏍️
Just eaten here for breakfast and wow! Absolutely brilliant, food was delicious and amazingly quick!! The milkshakes were divine! Pancakes and breakfast were 10/10 seating and tables in immaculate condition. Thankyouuuu

I can't rate this diner highly enough, very friendly staff, outstanding food and a great price, all in a 50s diner setting with good music playing, o recommend everyone go and sample the outstanding menu

Cool place and very nice staff but bacon shouldn't have elastic bands in it! To be fair, it's not the only place I've eaten at that doesn't crisp the rind off.. disappointing
As a bit of a food snob, this is basic food done bloody well. One of the best burgers in Dorset, and a lot of places try to do that.Food served so quick you’d hardly sat down, another plus. Forget the idea you’re doing these guys a favour by visiting - just go for the food and lightning quick service at honest prices. They’ve won me over and I’ll be back for certain!

Absolutely beautiful place, decor is amazing, music was awesome, service was brilliant and food was spot on.Gorgeous views.Definitely worth a visit if you're in portland, I will certainly be going backParking was easy too.
Average food (burgers, hotdogs and breaded chicken wraps). We sat outside with the dog (dogs not allowed inside), the service could be improved - we weren't offered cutlery or condiments, a bit slack especially when there were no other customers 😕
Only went for milkshakes not tried the food but all is very reasonably priced and the diner is very clean

A great, fresh 50s style American Diner with delicious food, great coffee, helpful staff and reasonable prices. There is a large outside area, as well as the authentic feeling red and white diner itself. An interesting menu with daily specials , from fab burgers and dogs to yummy cream teas, you can't go wrong. My children' grandchildren and great grandchild always want to visit. We who remember the 50s love it too.
Lovely stop off for breakfast whilst walking along the coastal path.Can recommend the Governor's breakfast and the camembert and bacon panini.Staff were very professional and friendly.
We were initially sad to discover on arrival that no dogs allowed inside the diner, just in the garden .... however it was pouring with rain. With a little lateral thinking and a lot of kindness the staff found us a hidden spot out of the rain so we could enjoy lunch and stay dry. Excellent service! 2 burgers (very big, very tasty) 1 banana milkshake and a coffee later we left full and happy and will definitely return.
We went there today for breakfast which was absolutely amazing.once you find it you would definitely go back again. Very clean, food lovely and hot. Staff happy to serve you and are very polite and helpful.
Visited on Saturday afternoon, had our dog so had to sit outside as they don't allow dogs inside. Appeared clean and tidy, had the Moonshine burgers and banana milkshakes. Food was served very quickly, very hot and and was very nice. Service was super friendly and efficient. We will be going back.
Brillant place next Portland Jail [which was YOI Portland]. This idea visting, good walk along the side of the jail down to see old army base. Shooting range [2nd world war] breathtaking views, walks down east Weare. You might be visiting the jail. Fast service and affordable food America style. Disabled access and added full menu. American style seating, with plenty of seating outside. Parking is free just close to the dinner.
Good cooked breakfast, friendly staff who were knowledgeable about allergens and really helpful, food and drinks were delivered promptly and freshly cooked. Bacon was delicious. Diner was clean and outside area was spacious with plenty of seating. Thank you for a great breakfast!

The diner wasn't easy to find but we'll it was worth it. Service was super and food really tasty. There has been a lot of effort to create the atmosphere, and we really appreciate it.
Had lunch here today (2nd March) with my wife and son. We all enjoyed the meals we chose. The staff were very welcoming, the place was clean and tidy and the background music playing was "Elvis" Would recommend a visit.
A fabulous American-style diner with lovely, welcoming staff. Only opened around 3 months ago and it served the best full English ever! Wish I had had the banana milkshake as well but no room for it 😁.
Great breakfast and lovely staff. Very clean and a nice theme. The pancakes are fantastic.No parking though!
