Absolutely amazing authentic Kerala food. We had mini masala dosas as a starter, then had thalasseri biriyani, thattukada chicken, mango and prawns fish curry and porotta. It was delicious and made with fresh ingredients. Very clean and lovely ambiance. The staff were so friendly. I would recommend this to anyone who is looking for authentic Kerala food❤️

Authentic Taste of Kerala – A Gem in Weymouth!

We had a wonderful dining experience at The White Pepper in Weymouth — an absolute treat for anyone who loves South Indian and Kerala cuisine. Every dish was freshly prepared, full of authentic flavours, and perfectly cooked. So be prepared to wait for your food - it’s worth the wait. You can really taste the difference that comes from fresh ingredients and traditional cooking methods.

The Kerala specialities were outstanding. We tried the following dishes

MALABAR VEGETABLE BIRIYANI
Biriyani spiced mixed vegetables & basmati rice.

WHITE PEPPER CHICKEN ROAST MASALA
Boneless chicken thighs in a thick & rich masala.

KERALA BEEF MASALA
Slow braised beef in thick and aromatic Keralan spiced masala.

By all means try the CHAPATHI Unleavened flat bread, but we were pursuaded to also try the KERALA PAROTTA Multi-layered flaky flatbread and that was delicious.

We couldn’t resist the Mango and coconut Panna cotta which had been recommended by a friend and it was simply delicious. So creamy and smooth with a lovely mango coulis.

The service was just as impressive — warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. The staff clearly take pride in what they do, and it made the whole experience even more enjoyable. Thank you Donah for looking after us.

If you’re looking for an authentic taste of Kerala and South India, The White Pepper is an absolute must-visit. Excellent food, amazing service, and a truly

memorable dining experience. We’ll definitely be back soon!

We absolutely loved the food at this restaurant! The staff were incredibly hospitable and showcased excellent service skills. Special thanks to Ancy and Maria for their warm hospitality. The restaurant, which specializes in Kerala-style Indian cuisine, truly impressed us. The spice levels were spot on. We ordered the Malabar and Thalassery biryanis along with Mandi — all were delicious. The masala tea was exceptional and brought back fond memories of Kerala.

Ok so we are hiking from Lyme to Poole & our B&B recommended this restaurant to us. DID NOT DISAPPOINT! Was not quite sure what we wanted and the server was very helpful with suggestions We had both the fish curry & chicken masala. Amazing! Loved every bite. Very hard to pick the best but could eat the fish every day of the week. They are having a buffet on Sunday & trying to figure out how to get back here for this. Upon leaving we spoke to more employees & were totally charmed. Know we Canadians will be recommending your amazing establishment to everyone we know.

If you’re in or around Weymouth or Portland, this place is an absolute must-visit!
Every dish here is freshly cooked from scratch, and you can really taste the difference — the spices are perfectly balanced and gentle on the stomach.

I tried the Beef Masala (a definite must-try) and the Chicken Peralan (don’t miss this one!), paired with authentic Kerala Parotta. The Biryani was bursting with flavour and instantly reminded me of my favourite Biryani spots back in India.

P.S. Be sure to visit when you have at least 30 minutes to spare — the food is freshly prepared and totally worth the wait. If you’re in a hurry, save this gem for another day!

I recently discovered and had dinner at this humble South Indian restaurant in Weymouth and honestly, it was such a great experience. The food was fresh, flavorful, and comforting from start to finish.

I tried the dosa first, which was beautifully crisp on the outside and paired perfectly with the yoghurt and chutney. For the mains, the vegetable korma really stood out — it had this rich coconut gravy that was full of flavor and topped with crispy fried onions, which added such a nice crunch. The Malabar biryani was another highlight: wonderfully fragrant, layered with spices, and packed with cashews, raisins, and herbs that gave it both flavor and texture. Paired with the soft chapati, it all came together as a hearty and satisfying meal.

What made the experience even better was the staff. They were incredibly friendly and welcoming, checking in on us and making sure we had everything we needed, particularly the lady server who worked on Wednesday 24/9. My friend and I truly enjoyed conversing with her as she helped us to figure what would be the best dishes to order. Her warm hospitality honestly made the meal even more enjoyable!

If you’re in Weymouth and craving authentic South Indian food, I’d definitely recommend this place. I’ll happily be going back again!

Good location and for a specialist South Indian place the food was average. Had vada and masala dosa and was served with a dash of sambar and chutney and no top up offered. For the quality the prices are higher than should be. Service though was excellent and the place was busy and nice atmosphere. Tables and toilets were basic

We had a fantastic Keralan meal at the White Pepper yesterday. The food was nicely presented and flavoursome without being overpowering, delicately spiced and not too hot. The coconut chicken curry, Nadan beef curry and Keralan Parotta (paratha) is highly recommended. The sauce that accompanies your meat is refined, delicate, smoother and richer than your normal Indian restaurants (which are typically from Northern India).
Service was par excellence, thank you to our server, Ansy, who was attentive and explained what Keralan food was all about. Note: Kerala means the Land of coconut, (Southern India).
If you are in Weymouth and would like to try something different, then the White Pepper is the place to go.

My partner and I ate there for the first time this week and we are already working out when we can return. The food was fantastic, you could taste all the elements in each dish and it was delicious. The service was another great point about this place as the staff were in plentiful supply and were very attentive and efficient. We didn't have to wait long for our food and when it came it was fresh and hot. The other strong point for me, there is a window where you can clearly view the kitchen and the chefs at work. I was also impressed to see families from India arriving to eat at the restaurant which assured me that the food is authentic.

Compliments to the chef! Such GREAT tasting food! They were not serving Dosa today, and that was disappointing but the food definitely did NOT disappoint.

A few vegetarian options, clearly marked on the menu.

Southern Indian food is my preference over Northern but I am a big fan of Northern Indian as well.

Service was friendly enough.

Went on a Sunday lunchtime not busy only one waiter on duty waited a few minutes for our table.Perused the menu not extensive but that is no bad thing. Came to order was then told some of the menu was not available would have been nice to be told that when we first sat down. Apparently they were very busy on Saturday and it takes time to prepare some of the missing dishes. Anyway not a real problem these things happen, I started with the prawns which were very large well spiced with a nice kick for my main meal I had the Kerala beef masala and plain rice and it was wonderful well cooked and spiced could not fault it one of the best Indian meals I have had rest of my group were also impressed with the standard and quality of the food. The restaurant itself is large and lacks a certain ambience.

Visited over the Easter weekend. The welcome we received was great and despite a little trepidation over the menu(not the usual offering) we were very impressed with the dishes we had. The restaurant filled up very quickly but despite that we did not have to wait too long for service throughout our meal. We very much look forward to returning the next time we are in the area

We went to this place on a Friday evening for dinner during our weekend trip to Weymouth. Staff were very friendly. Loved their Malabar vegetable biryani and uzhunnu vada so much that we debated going there again during the short weekend trip, but decided against it as we wanted to try other places too.

**Worst Experience – Disappointing Service & Food**

I had an extremely disappointing experience at White Pepper Restaurant. One of the two girls working today, a shorter staff member, was noticeably unprofessional and seemed to treat us differently compared to the local customers. She was exceptionally polite to the natives but displayed a lack of courtesy towards us, which felt discriminatory.

As for the food, it was the worst I’ve had in the past year. Their so-called variety of biryanis is nothing but the same rice with different meats swapped in. There was no distinct flavor or authenticity to any of the dishes.

We ordered chicken biryani, beef biryani, chicken mandi, a chicken fry starter, and masala tea, spending a total of £101. Unfortunately, none of the dishes lived up to their names or tasted remotely good. Overall, a complete waste of money, and I would not recommend this place to anyone.

I dined at this restaurant today with my friends and family. I am sorry to say that the food was very bad. We ordered the following;

1. Thalassery Beef Biriyani × 2
2. Thalassery Chicken Biriyani x 2
3. Masala Tea × 5

Sorry to say that the rice, flavour, spice and quality of the meat was below average. I reported the same to the staff who served us the food. But nothing apart from a Sorry.
I am sorry to say that even after we paid about £100 and the service was pathetic.

Is this how you treat customers?

Don't ever go to this restaurant.

One of the lady staff who was short seems to be not pleasant at all to us and seems like as if we took something of her personal belongings with us. But, the other lady was quite pleasant.

But still the issues with food remains unchanged.

I want the management to see this and provide proper reason for this experience.

Can't recommend highly enough, beautiful, authentic Kerelan dishes. The flaky parota bread is a must to mop up any sauces, delicious!
We can't wait to visit the restaurant in person and try the wider menu and the chai tea and other drinks too.

This is a lovely Indian restaurant. The staff were so friendly and welcoming and the food was amazing, really tasty, proper authentic feel to the whole place. The food is cooked fresh from order so you have a little wait but it is so worth it as the taste is the best. Definitely go again
The ambience is pretty good, but the food is a bit bland for Indians, especially if you are from Kerala.

We popped in without booking the table prior, but thankfully, we got served. After a while, all tables were fully equipped. The reason behind this is nothing but their kind service and authentic taste to the food they serve. Being an indian, we were looking for authentic indian food. We tried white pepper chicken fry, kerala roast chicken as a starters and thalassery chicken biryani, meenporichathu skate pan fried fish, coconut chicken curry and white pepper chicken peralan as mains with kerala parotta. They offer good quantity even though prices looks high but it's totally worth visiting. Staff was also very friendly and informative about their menu. 5 🌟 place, made our day. Thanks.

I had dinner at the White Pepper this week. I didn't really know what to expect, but I guess I assumed it would be an Indian food based restaurant similar to the many other Indian Restaurants I've been to - I'm a big fan of Indian food and very spicy food in general. I was in no way disappointed, but The White Pepper was not at all what I'd expected.

In many ways I'd put service ahead of food in terms of what I like when visiting a restaurant and what will make me go back. The service was excellent - the staff were very attentive and engaging, without being overbearing. It's clear they are trying something new in culinary terms - I different twist on Indian cuisine that is not (yet) familiar to the English palate - and they are doing what they can to help with food selection and an understanding of what's being served. All of my questions on what the various options on the menu were were answered and thoughtful suggestions were made to guide my choices. There's non of the standard "Buna, Madras, Vindaloo" options to be see and not a Naan bread to be had, but what is there (at least what I tried) was phenomenal.

I marked "Atmosphere" down by a star simply because (like most restaurants now it seems...) the place was not full and I think it should be. It's a new idea, so that may take time, but I'd encourage anyone who enjoys grown up Asian food to give it a go. In the interest of making this a useful review, I do think that this restaurant is likely more for grown ups than I'd usually think of for your standard Indian food restaurant. What I mean by that is that the White Pepper seems to use only the most flavourful cuts of meat (e.g. chicken thighs rather than breast meat) and that has a different taste and texture that may not be to the liking of your kids - there's no "kids menu" that I saw. This is a place for date night or an adult group meal in my opinion and not likely a young family venue.

I'll be going there again - lots more on the menu to try.

Just back from a”ladies that lunch” event. We virtually had the place to ourselves which was fine as we were all busy chatting, but I do recommend it -don’t be put off it it seems empty.
Waitress was very friendly and I can only speak for myself but my chicken coconut dish with coconut pancake was delicious.
We hadn’t ordered starters but they brought us crackers, chutney and raita to keep us going as she warned us the roast chicken some had ordered would take 40 minutes.
As far as I know everyone else was also very happy with their lunch and I will definitely be returning in the future with family

This is a very special place. Slightly tucked away and easy to miss but inside is some seriously good South Indian cooking. Probably the best fish curry I've had, excellent Beef Masala and delicious rice and breads. The service wasn't exactly slick but it added to the charm because all the staff were so incredibly nice and keen to make sure we were having a good time. Dining at The White Pepper Weymouth was a truly enjoyable experience. We started with a lovely glass of wine and were thrilled by the White Pepper Prawn Fry, which was perfectly crispy and packed with flavor.

The main courses didn’t disappoint either. The White Pepper Chicken Mandi Biryani was wonderfully aromatic and the chicken was tender, while the Thattykada Chicken Fry had just the right amount of spice and a great crunch.

What really stood out was the warm and attentive staff. They made us feel right at home and were genuinely caring throughout our meal.

In all, The White Pepper Weymouth offers delicious food in a cozy, welcoming environment.
We highly recommend it for a special meal.

The food they served is very fresh and tasty. Ambiance is okay & a nice pleasant place to sit and enjoy the food. The only disappointment thing is the staff i don’t know whether the person who served me is manager or waitresses he was rude to us. We ordered the food and after 10 min we asked like “how long it’s gonna take”, he replied “we don’t have chocolate to serve immediately, you have to wait till it’s get ready” which is not acceptable totally the way he respond to the. Serving freshly made food is a good thing but you need to give polite and proper explanation y it’s take long to serve. Except that guy(The one who was with glasses took my order) everything is fine.

I have been to White Pepper several times and wanted to leave a review about their food and service this time. For Malayalis missing their traditional food in the UK, White Pepper is a great option. The food is delicious, especially the date pickle and salad they serve as starters. My favorite dish is the porotta and beef masala, but I also thoroughly enjoyed their fish fry during my last visit. If you are in Weymouth, I encourage you to try White Pepper for a taste of Kerala cuisine.

As one customer previously wrote ‘ do not judge a book by its cover !’ We had been recommended The White Pepper by a local who told us to ignore the decor & concentrate on the knowledge & passion of the owners & staff to enjoy the food , which was in his opinion very good .
Please remember this is not a curry house ! This is Keralan ! The people from the south delicately balance their ingredients , their unique use of spices are gently layered throughout the dishes & their sauces on this particular evening were like velvet . Enough ….. the staff here are lovely & even somewhat shy but engage them in conversation & you will notice how keen they are to please . My taste buds were extremely satisfied that evening & if I’m ever down in Weymouth again this is the place I’m heading to .
Best wishes to you all & I hope you go from strength to strength

Waited two and a quarter hours for the main course, and when it finally arrived, it was stone cold. We had to send it back. The waiter assured us they would make a fresh one, but the plate was returned 5 minutes later, and hot I assume they reheated it. Other than our group and a table of 2 adults and 2 toddlers, there was no one else there, so I can't understand the dreadful wait. The portions were miniscal, and I left hungry, having spent £45. Its not wheelchair friendly. Dining room was cold.

Hey? So I’m a bit of a food person and the way that you get treated very often can make the food taste better (If you know what I mean) 😖😖😖
This restaurant????
No.
Terrible. Terrible. TERRIBLE!
So at first I liked the whole “front
Room house look” It usually means homemade cooking!!!!
NO.

I made a special trip down from Wales
And my best friends who live here wanted to take me somewhere different…and new. Oh dear. 😖😖😖
It all started out great…I asked the waiters name… He was lovely ( only good thing about this place) Anish.

We waited over an hour for the main dishes. Now, there’s not a lot of menu choice (be warned) not a bad thing as such …. however, the three of us asked questions about the dishes, two of ours came with a “sauce”? Now, I’m Welsh and I love my curry, CURRY??? There wasn’t any on two dishes??? Meat. No sauce. I ordered a spicy dish, £18! Just the dish, no sauce. DRY!!!!!!So my friend asked for extra sauce and said it was dry. They brought coconut sauce. So I added some although my dish was tomato based and I’m not a fan of mild coconut tastes. Just to get some juice on the dish ! The rice side dish was a packet of boiled microwave rice and u could see the veg in the dish was that cubed, bagged veg that comes frozen… no oils or spices? £6 !!!! No fresh veg??? Horrible. Then my friends asked where the “noodles” were? They brought them after the meal… dry and u could lift them with ur fingers!? !!!!!! and I gotta be honest I’ve had juicier Supernoodles!
You have to see the photos to believe it? £4 for dry super noodles??? Now I left 3/4 of my dinner my other friends ate theirs and also complained but I had explained the food was awful… the waiter has arguing with me demanding that I just didn’t like it ?!!?? I left most of it and he was obnoxious and wouldn’t listen to our comments…. Refusing to hear why I had left most of my food.
This wasn’t Anish.
I never got the name of the guy who took over our order. He wasn’t nice. So we sat with the dishes there for 20 mins. My friends both like a quiet life and they did complain, bit ate the food but I hadn’t eaten most of mine so I didn’t wanna pay?
The waiter demanded we
Pay and said he would take
the white dry Supernoodles off the bill as they came AFTER a the meal ( I’m sorry Supernoodles) you are better than this?!)
I believe legally if you haven’t eaten the food in a restaurant, even if it’s unpalatable, you should’nt pay for it. I never ate most of it didn’t enjoy it. I did love the taste that was there….but there was no sauce on the plate like it said on the menu?
My 2 friends paid the whole bill as the waiter was beginning to make them feel humiliated and embarrassed. They shouldn’t have to do that for me but I didn’t want the night to be even more ruined for them.
